NO, we probably could not accomplish most of that before 2029,
when we hopefully WILL HAVE a Democratic House and Senate and PRESIDENT---
but that doesn't mean our candidates should not be messaging ALL FOUR of those things NOW,
to build the pressure into 2028!
Trump's "Big Stupid Bill" passed the Senate through 'reconciliation'
thus bypassing the possibility of a filibuster,
and I presume a repeal could be passed the same way---
otherwise a bill reversing everything in the BBB that isn't worth saving, via 'reconciliation'!
(Yes, even if the Democrats manage to retake both houses of congress in 2026,
Trump or his successor would VETO such a bill as long as they are in office---
but that doesn't mean that our legislators should not PASS such a bill---
putting all of the Democrats and especially the Republicans on the record for the next election!)
((Remember how many times the Republican House passed bills
attempting to repeal Obamacare after 2010??
Their attempts were fruitless and went nowhere--- but it did keep their party base revved up!))
I have been very personally disappointed that, so far as I have heard,
I AM the ONLY DEMOCRAT that I know of, who has publicly called for a repeal of the BBB!
(but unfortunately for that case, I hold no public office....)
Seems pretty basic and no-brainer to me, but haven't heard a peep
about such an idea from our party office-holders!
And YES, IMHO such a bill should include a measure upholding
the tax cuts for those of more moderate income, let's say under $200k a year,
although the specific number is open to debate---
but certainly cancelling the tax cuts for the mega-rich, corporations,
and cancelling the medicaid cuts
and the WORK REQUIREMENTS for citizens from 55 to 64 years old,
which was the major change to SNAP and MEDICAID !!!!
If a major potential 2028 Democratic POTUS candidate takes THAT position,
that will certainly be a 'game-changer' for me personally---
and will likely force me to be WITH THEM, whoever is first !!!!
Trump, Putin, Nettybahoo and a groundhog walked into a bar...

'The Day After' (1983 nuclear holocaust TV movie that changed history): 16 Weird Secrets You Didn't Know-- and 'Threads'

MY notes on this video--- Some of the film was actually filmed in Kansas, and the movie pyrotechnics creating mushroom clouds actually panicked people in Kansas who could see them, but knew nothing about the film being made, and they believed that a nuclear war had actually started! Official phone lines were overwhelmed with calls from panicked people---
Also, about an hour's worth of scenes were deleted, judged as being too horrible for the viewing audience to be able to bear---
(but the final product was bad enough to influence President Ronald Reagan himself to 'change direction'---
and thank God for that!)
Full version of the original TV movie:
The television airing of 'The Day After' in 1983 was a very major television event in my life,
possibly on a par with with the closing episode of 'MASH'. It had ample prior promotion...
At the time, I was a 20-year-old delivery driver for Domino's Pizza, in community college.
A good number of Domino's Pizza employees from my store planned to meet
at the home of one of the other drivers to view this movie..

(quite possibly he had auto-taped it on his VCR, for us to view later,
since store hours were 4:30 pm to 1:00 am, but I don't recall for sure
whether we might have actually viewed it live or not---
only that we planned this affair at least several days in advance).
I do remember at least one of the comments on the movie by a fellow employee,
about the scene with the African American missile site technician,
whom, after their missile has already been launched exclaims
"THE WAR IS OVER! WE DONE OUR JOB!" But their orders were to remain at the missile site
'until the helicopters come' to pick them up... but he shouts
"The bombs will be here before the choppers will!"
My coworker's comment was
"that guy has a real healthy attitude!"
A year after 'The Day After', the British movie about a possible impending nuclear holocaust,
"THREADS" (full movie link)
was even more graphic and frightening than 'The Day After',
as it also depicted nuclear winter, starvation, and birth defects
which would be likely after such a war---
The last scene is the killer---
a young girl who survived the war. but was subsequently raped
and conceived in the aftermath, gives birth to her child---
and begins to SCREAM after she SEES it!
((OK, she didn't actually scream in the film, now that I have re-watched the final scene---
but after seeing her baby, she recoiled from it and withdrew her hands---
and was CLEARLY about to scream when the film ended---
I imagined the scream that was clearly coming,
and that is how I remember the end!))

Rather too ironic now, that the nuclear war depicted in 'Threads'
was precipitated by a RUSSIAN invasion of IRAN,
to which the U.S. felt it had to respond with troops----
(because of O.I.L., what else!--- although that is never mentioned...)
and the escalation resulted in this fictional nuclear war!
EVERYONE who voted for the madman TRUMP
should have been REQUIRED to VIEW BOTH of these movies---
BEFORE being allowed to cast such a fucking stupid vote!

I'm glad I am getting old, and most of my life is already behind me---
and that if the demented orange fool decides to push the button

Anybody else like the 'Gilmore Girls' show ??
I started watching them on one of my digital-TV sub-channels, about a year ago I think---
all that pithy and fast dialogue along with pop-culture references HOOKED me---
they play on "StartTV" from 11pm to 1am EST/EDT weeknights,
and on Saturday from 5 to 10 PM EST/EDT....
Well, I have had trouble keeping up with that schedule, except for Saturday's marathon---
About four days ago, I discovered that I actually OWNED the DVDs for the first three seasons----
in very attractive packages--- within a package that I hadn't actually looked at enough--
thanks to my best friend, now deceased, who bid me take all of his DVDs before his passing---
he spent a lot of time shopping garage sales and buying up DVDs in his last few years---
I have some doubts about whether he actually knew about what
'The Gilmore Girls' actually were either, or whether he had ever viewed them---
but he could spot a bargain!
(They were stored in one of those vinyl see-thru packages of which there were many,
but one I had not looked at too much before---
and when I acquired them from him back around 2018,
I had never heard of the 'Gilmore Girls'---
but a few days ago I actually looked at it
and it hit me stark in my face!!)
so, after having tried to watch them on a TV sub-channel,
you might imagine my shock to discover that I actually OWNED
the first three seasons on DVDs!
SO, as might be surmised, I have been on a DVD 'Gilmore Girls' marathon
for the past 4 days, LOL Just started Season Three....
Might have to shop for the latter seasons, at this point...

'Trump always chickens out'? NOT THIS TIME..... I don't think we should use that term tonight--
when the decision was clearly RIGHT, for once---- to not initiate a GENOCIDE against nearly 100 million people in Iran,
many of whom OPPOSE their current government,
and instead allow diplomacy to work, for once---
To say that he 'chickened out' is to imply that he
should have acted upon his promised threats--- which would have resulted in the deaths
of millions of innocent Iranians---- including those who oppose their current regime
wiping out their electric power plants and numerous bridges, with conventional weapons
as well as water plants would have effectively mimicked the results of a nuclear attack,
without using any nukes at all-- (minus the fallout)
but created a total humanitarian disaster in Iran....
and made the country "unlivable" --- no electricity, no clean water, no refridgeration of food....
and NO PRAISE of Trump here---- all his prior words are subject to condemnation and scorn!!!

BUT----- I don't think he should be 'mocked' for avoiding
committing a genocide which he threatened to commit,
before somebody talked him 'off the cliff'---

OK, this scared the hell out of me when I woke up--- it appeared on my smartphone, and it wasn't from 'The Onion' or any of the other 'parody-satire' sites---
YES, I know what day it is, but I don't expect such 'April Fools' jokes from any site which would think of itself as any kind of 'serious' news site--- !
AND, problem was, about the last half of the story failed to appear in my news-app, which often happens---
INCLUDING the last line that said 'April Fools!'
In the current 'Bizarro Trump World' we live in, where he creates US policy out of the bubbles emitting from his own ass,
and every new news story is a nightmare, some so crazy we believe they are 'The Onion' except they are NOT,
(think RFK Jr. collecting the dead racoon's penis)
it had the 'appearance of Trump-World Truth'--- especially the parts about naming the currency after himself,
and converting all US currency to crypto-currency!
I did a Google search on the subject and it produced numerous other copies of this same story,
which didn't help reduce my panic. Finally I added to the beginning of my search, "is it true?"
to which Google responded "no, it is satire".
